This is for anyone who thinks I'm not doing any work behind my laptop when I play live. This is my song "Against all odds", sequenced on the fly in Ableton Live.

What this is: I used to use a Roland MC505 Groovebox live most of the time. That machine is quite beat now. I have been using a Macbook and Ableton Live to throw sets, using the sequenced bits from the Groovebox, having recorded loops from the machine into Ableton. That's what I'm doing here.

The intro consists of the Mega Man III intro theme, and the rest is composed by me, brian botkiller. Enjoy, or don't. Whatever.

  • You might want to give credit where it's due... This is basically a cover of Mega Man 3 theme, not an original song.

  • I really like this song.

Ableton's interface always has confused me, even though I heard its supposed to be easy to use. I guess Logic has corrupted me.

  • heee megaman game song... nice mdi rip

  • @joerush25 I used ableton myself and I can tell you, yes. These are called launch options, they are accessed by double clicking a clip and they are set on a clip-by-clip basis. You can randomize, make follow patterns, and at almost any interval too. Just look up ableton live launch actions or launch options

  • so how did you make it automatically go to the next track? Is it possible to go upwards a track also instead of down?

  • @fermixx heh, no, just SUPER busy. Released my CD with this song on it, actually, so been working on that.

  • @BadYahweh no, it's not a cover. the INTRO is a sample of the mega man III theme - something I said clearly in the description of the video.

  • @brianbotkiller duuude, that comment was 2 years ago. welcome back :P

Have you been in jail or smt?

  • @fermixx I love video game music. I daresay it's some of my favorite music of all time, which is why I used the mega man III theme as an intro :)

  • @protomark right - which I say clearly in the video's description.

  • @alexxxko too late, thanks. I don't spend forever tweaking songs anymore. I write them to my liking, record and release them, and move on.

  • @aliencall because the 505 is a POS and died a long time ago. Also because I run two hardware synths and live vocals - which you don't hear here, but can on other versions of this song.

  • @ridonkulous192 not a cover, but thanks.

  • @urmumsbaps I run two hardware synths and do live vocals on all my songs. I'm not doing anymore with ableton, I'm doing enough as it is, thanks.

  • @BadYahweh what about anything after the first MINUTE is a cover? I say clearly that the intro is mega man III, thanks.

  • you play this live? you could get a bit more creative than just a beat repeat and a filter for a live performance...

  • Regardless of being a Mega Man 3 cover, it is still awesome. Good job!

  • on the fly:)

why sampling from 505? you can use midi 4 control in any part this machine

  • ableton could be considerd the most rounded

  • Yes, please take me back in time with you! I very much miss using protools!

  • Some things yes and some things no.

  • it sounds like mario ;p on the begin

  • lol is logic better?

  • interesting. but you have to work more on it. in some parts the violins do not work so great with the rest of the track.

  • that would be the megaman 3 theme, sir.
