Fabio, a young male cat living in Houston, TX, was as gentle and trusting of humans as a ragdoll -- the breed renowned for lying as limp as ragdolls in people's arms.

However, Fabio had an underdeveloped immune system. He was sick when we brought him in as a kitten, with an eye infection and ringworm. He later struggled with inflammatory bowel issues.

Then, in August, 2008, when he was just one year old, he lost nearly 50% of his body weight in four weeks' time. He reacted briefly to medication, but then developed chest congestion and lost his appetite completely. His left kidney showed signs of possible cystosis or cancer. Despite our attempts to save him, it became clear that we were only prolonging his suffering. He was put to sleep August 28, 2008, at about 5:00 pm.

This was his adoption video. At first, when we didn't understand the extent of his problems, it seemed he was losing weight due to stress, so we made every effort to find him a low-stress home.

Fabio, we've found you the best home in the universe -- a place where you are never sick.

  • So sorry to hear about Fabio. My cat just passed on last week, too. Om mani padme hum...

  • That's heartbreaking. I'm sorry for your loss. :(

But I imagine Fabio and your kitty are some place happy, playing together, waiting for whatever big adventure awaits them next.

  • Oh, well shes 2. but she's big...andd, if i were to adopt him..how would I get him if I live in a differnt state?

  • Ah, two years old, big, and hyper might not be the best kitten companion for Fabio... that sounds like a precious kitty, though. :)

If you know another home that might be interested in Fabio, I'm fairly certain that he can legally be transported anywhere in the world by various airlines or private companies with proper documentation.

  • you know, all your adaption videos make me cry!!

i just feel bad for them!!

  • I'm sorry to share bad feelings with you... Fabio makes me cry a little, too, so it was hard not to make a sad video. :(

I just hope it can pull on the heartstrings of the right family for him...

  • Just saw this video while checking on eye infection for cats, my ragdoll is barely 2 months old I think, the seller probably lied about her age. I have brought it to the vet once, will be going there in a few day's time. I hope she has no ringworm or inflammaory bowel issues. She is probably not weaned when she was given away. I hope she survives.

  • this one made me cry! all of your vids are so touching, I can tellyou really care about the animals and are connected to them. I have 3 cats, two dogs and a rabbit, and know the suffering of loosing an animal you've been through so much with Fabio will be remembered by all.

  • God rest his little soul. He was a beautiful cat and was blessed with you to take such good care of him. Love is one of the greatest things you can give to sick animals.

  • he will be surely missed...

  • ohhh my god whyyy, it make me cry!! really!!

ohh he was such good cat!!
