@kamazaleslie The socialist Eastern European countries were completely different from what North Korea is. You didn't get shot unless you broke into military areas. In North Korea you get shot just for not making it back to the hotel in time.

@tomyklauss Worked in SK as a teacher for 2 years, been to DMZ. Have friends that have visited NK along with spending much time studying it. Sadly there is not much point in going now as once you have seen all the arranged tours as shown on Youtube there is little more you will see in person. When visiting NK you are unable to wonder off anywhere or explore the place or you risk being shot (which actually happened to some other teachers who broke curfew and stayed from the hotel.)

@SylwiaElzbieta - If you were born there clearly you didn't live there for long or you would know the reason they aren't 'curious or stupid' is because they are ruled by an iron fist and have no contact with the outside world. They are brain-washed from birth to hale the 'Great Leader' and think their country is elite and if they say so otherwise ,they along with their families are thrown in concentration camps.
