This was our record of finding unexploded and live mortar rounds filled with nerve agents in Iraq. We ran two tests on it, an electronic scan and a paper, sort of litmus test. We thought, in our limited knowledge, that the results were conclusive, and that we were finding the first of many of the alleged WMDs we were fighting about. We sent a copy of the video up the chain of command and never heard about it again.

  • oh by the way this video is complete bullshit by the way. Do you not think that if iraq was actually discovered WITH wmd's the bush administration would do everything in its power to make sure this information came to the mainstream media. WTF? Unless of course, all of those weapons could be traced back to the united states anyways.

  • You know, at the time, and in the years since, vefore it could be analyzed On YouTube by real experts on this shit, I honestly assumed that it would be the ace up the Bush's sleeve, that it would eventually be used as credence for this insanely misjudged war. Knowing now, through the expertise of other NCB guys, that its still bullshit, it's no wonder they never used it, cuz it'd be debunked and ridiculed in an instant... the way Iran's missile test were?

  • Dear SaintMark5,

One of the soldiers in the video directs our attention to 'tons of exploded ordinance'.

Do you have as estimate as to when it exploded?

Was this a cache hit during the fighting in 2003, or back during 1991, or during the Iran-Iraq war?

If a mortar round is NOT HE, is there anything it reasonably could be other than some sort of WMD (e.g. smoke or incindiery)?

  • This was in May or June of 03, when the mission was still looking for possible WMDs, along with Saddam and other high-ranking officials. This was the only place my particular unit ever found anything resembling NBC. All else was regular HE munitions.

The smoke/incindiery might be possible... I'm not sure if any chemicals in those kind of rounds would give those tests a false positive. I'm not an NBC guy, so the accuracy of those readings is unknown to me.

  • they just contaminated that c.a.m. when they touched that round.

  • thats probably the weapons we sold him before the war

  • yay first coment this year! where mi prize haha ty for putting ur life on the line to protect me :D mi heros xD

  • This is a really interesting video. What is your MOS?

I always figured that more of these would be found; in fact, one was actually used in a bombing (2 or 3 guys had to be treated for nerve agent exposure), but the insurgents screwed up--it was a binary shell and they didn't premix it. Still, it seems more likely that these were old artillery shells than the product of a (then) existing program, which means they still weren't a real threat to the US.

  • Not if its a Saratoga. only JSLIST have the thong strap, Saratogas have a drawstring around the waist, and tend to ride up alot... and the 256 would stay clear if it was positive. plus its easier to get two or thee D cell battaries then a sealed battery for the CAM how do I know? cause im USMC CBRND. lol

  • Hooah marine , CBRN Recon US ARMY

  • And yah, whatever a government says, to its dumb people...it have to correct right.............ASSHOLE

  • well, did they find any. Anyway USA have lot more stock. But who cares......it seams USA is the only one with right to defend itself. Also it have right to use on civilians ( Vietnam for example )

  • HAHA dumb asses. On a 256A1 Detector ticket blue means ALL CLEAR for nerve! And the brown on it means they had it in the sun to long.

3 bars on a CAM is not conclusive enough. A lot of stuff with set off the cam. They didn't find anything, they didn't know how to use the equipment and were to excited to find some rounds.

How do I know? USMC CBRND (this shit is my job).

  • We found 550 metric tons of yellowcake uranium in Iraq. 500+ bombs with chemical agents. But if Saddam SAYS he didn't have any, well, that's good enough for the Liberal puke stains around the world. Who wouldn't believe Saddam over Bush? Al Gore said they had them in 92, so did Billy Clinton. Check the Iraqi Liberation Act. Both Gore and Clinton are on youtube warning of Iraq WMD dangers. But that was before the war was "unpopular". Both are turncoat cowards.
