A classic cartoon featuring "The Terry Bears" from mid 1960s taken from regular 8mm film. Added the music of Gioachino Rossini, which might be recognizable if you've ever seen the Looney Toons episode "Barber of Seville" which features Elmer Fudd & Buggs Bunny fighting in a Barber shop.

  • What is the matter with the world that these aren't more widely available?

Everybody slags Terrytoons - they use every reason in the book: Not as wacky as WB, sloppier than Disney... SO WHAT! They had a style all their own.

This seems to feature some amazing Jim Tyer scenes (or someone who likes his style...) why can we not just have high-quality versions of them like they were meant to be seen?!

Thans for posting this, the ONLY Terry Bears short anywhere, that I know of... hope there's more...

  • Gotta say the animation on the radiator was incredible. Up there with the skeleton dance.

  • Even though I would love to see the theatrical version of this, I feel a strange affinity for these old 8mm versions too, and would watch both.

There were, I think I read, 17 of them, and if CBS and Paramount won't release them it is a shame. But when it comes to gigantic corporate minds who can follow their titanic thoughts?

  • "Plumber's Helpers" with the Terry Bears was featured on "Mighty Mouse Playhouse" back In the 60's.

  • @BucketFurter The reason that the Terrytoons series of cartoons are not widely released is because CBS and Paramount Pictures own them now.

They won't release the old shorts but they have released 1987's Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures series on DVD recently.

  • Why are they sleeping together?

  • Originally released theatrically in May 1953; this looks like one of the early "Ken Films" 'home movie' editions, as they had the rights to issue several Terrytoons in 8mm form, from the '50s through the late '60s. If you have any trouble trying to imagine what they sound like, keep in mind that Papa talks in a deep gruff grumble of a voice, while the "kids" talk in high pitched "sped-up" voices.

  • do you happen to have anymore terry bear films? be amazing if you could post more.
