Highlights from the 2009 MCFL Championship Game between the Kings Comets and the Columbus Fire held October 17, 2009 at Grove City Christian School outside of Columbus, Ohio. Game MVP Travis Johnson kicked three field goals, including a 48-yard field goal with 2:33 remaining and the Comets blocked a 31-yard field goal attempt with 25 seconds remaining to claim their first ever league championship with a 16-14 win. Offensive MVP Antwaun Gibbs ran for 118 yards and passed for 99 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Fire. Comets linebacker Larry Byndon was the games Defensive MVP, recording 13 tackles and returning an interception 62 yards to give the Comets a 7-0 lead less than three minutes into the game. Fire linebacker Cardell Derby won the games Spirit Award, leading the Fire with 11 tackles. TiRon Jones also intercepted two passes for the Comets, and linemen James Spikes and Terrill Byrd each had 1.5 sacks for Kings.
