Our bases aid those countries. We are a deterrent and it provides launching points for us. No country will attack those installations so they can avoid drawing in the country where the base is located. We prevent wars with our presence. Isn't that what everybody here has been complaining about. War?

I know how great our forces are. I am retired from the Army and know all to well our capabilities.
I still we believe that our military leadership should be the ones to make these decisions. The have all the available intelligence available to them. We are just throwing around opinions. They are making informed decisions.

Let's remember that a hand full of terrorist were able to attack us here at home and kill 3,000 Americans. As far as defending ourselves from abroad, that has served us well since WWII. In 1949 when North Korea invaded the South we had only a few troops there. If we had our current day force we could have stopped them early, or better we have served as a deterrent to an invasion from the North, preventing a war.

@lolzzzzzzzzzzzzzsss Obama was talking about a conscription. (5x worse than a draft)

NO ONE WILL TOUCH US! Really, look at our navy and air force, this is not a border scuffle in Africa, we are a powerful, established republic, and not even China will send their navy 5000 miles across the Pacific to get screwed. You guys aren't being realistic. Bring the troops home. Defend our borders.

@BarryRucker Our "enemies" are usually third world countries without an air force, so the thought that they could pose a threat is preposterous and an insult to our military. Our navy and air force is number one, no one will touch us, not Russia, Korean, or Chinese. If all our troops are at home, then the enemy would have to fight an abroad, overseas war, which would not end up well for them, so they wouldn't attack us in the first place. The only people that want to attack us are our victims.

I would rather meet our enemies on foreign soil, than to fight them here at home. The other problems I have with Ron Paul is his belief that all illegal drugs should be made legal, including cocaine and heroin. And his belief we need to legalize prostitution. He thinks we can safe money on law enforcement if we legalize all the things that are illegal now. Like I say. Ron Paul is a nut.

@BarryRucker America got so big like the Roman Empire, that if you shrink the foreign bases you run the risk of being attacked on home soil BUT if you also if you keep maintaining the foreign bases you increase the risk of economic bankruptcy
this country just got so large like the Roman Empire that there is no way out but down.

i agree with ron paul on foreign policy but not sure about other issues
Dear America.
I won't state my location (due to bias etc.)
We are a developed country who commits in peace and trade with the entire world. We are amongst the world leaders in giving development aid and actually GO THERE and build hospitals and schools, provide medical care and food for poor people.
Many people worldwide enjoy our exports and we welcome all cultures and religions alike.
WHY DO YOU OCCUPY OUR LAND WITH MILITARY BASES ???
Can we please have our dignity back?
Thanks.
Peace
