Three Car Wreck on Pine Street - Bristol, Connecticut

On March 3, 2010 a three car accident occurred in front of Green Hills school on Pine Street. One person sustained injuries serious enough to be transported on a "hot" delta response to Hartford Hospital. Three other patients were transported on a "cold" response to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Ironically, none of the four patients were taken to Bristol Hospital. Ambulances 17-1, 17-2, 17-5 and Paramedic Car 17-22 responded along with Bristol Engine 3.

Also, to clarify Hartford Hospital is a level one trauma center and Children's is a level one pediatric trauma center.

It's actually not ironic that they didn't transport to Bristol Hospital, there's a pretty good reason. Bristol Hospital is not a trauma center and regional EMS protocol is to transport all trauma patients to trauma centers, even if that means bypassing a closer, non-trauma center Hospital. The only time you would stop at a closer hospital that is not a trauma center would be if you were losing the patient in which case they would help you stabilize them and then send them to a trauma center.

@firefighteremt084 Yup! I understand how it works. That's why LifeStar is based at Hartford Hospital and Backus. I'm not sure why I wrote "ironically." Probably to highlight the lack of level one status at Bristol Hospital (as most people would wonder about what both you and I understand).
