"Now that summer here, I started thinking" said recently featured PrincessDiana161 (who prefers to think just one season per year to minimize brain overload).

Here's a response to her "Summer Recipe Guru" challenge:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DZRXe1wtC-M

My brother (the original Nalts and now brotherofnalts) inspired it. I've never really written the recipe down, but it's roughly:
-A full blender of basil leaves (preferably fresh- and they grow like weeds- just groom them so they don't flower)
-1/2 to 3/4 cup of shredded Parmesan cheese (preferably fresh Pecarina Romano, but regular works)
-Half cup of pine nuts (you can live without these, but they add a nice texture)
-About 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Olive Oil
-Roughly 1/2 cup of water (you can use the water boiling the pasta). This loosens it up without greasing it too much.
-Maybe 5 shakes of salt (to taste)
-Kids don't always like it, but I LOVE a few cloves of crushed garlic and some crushed pepper (and usually overdo it). Otherwise a shot of any spice.

Blend lightly so it still has texture, and pour over pasta- you can't go wrong except if it's too thick/greasy or too salty.

Yey! Thanks for getting me to finally make this video, Princess Di. I have another secret ingredient but I'll leave that off the Internet.

The music is something I made on Mac's Garageband using World Loops.

  • kids sticking their hands into a blender (0:42) is very, very scary. please don't let them do that, please.

  • Wow, this is actually a great recipe, and it doesn't call for any garlic! (See, I LOVE garlic, but my ITALIAN mother hates it with a passion, yeah that's right, Italian) It looks VERY good, I would happily try this recipe, seeing as we have a ton of fresh basil that needs to get used up. I really want to try it now. Thanks, Nalts! :-)
