MXR Dyna Comp from the late 70s or early 80s. Not sure which version it is but it's an older model.

I used a Telecaster for this clip.

Short story here :

I compared this one to a reissue once and it doesn't even belong in the same league. The original trumps it in everything. The new one is a bit flat and lifeless.

You can get one of these older ones for around $100 on eBay.

  • You're a great player and this is a great video! Any chance of you opening your pedal and reading the number off the pot so we can be sure what year exactly it is? THanks!

  • @MrGuitarfreak132

    Thank you for the compliment!

And I would but unfortunately I let it go last year since the pedal was non-functioning and the shop I took it to could not fix it after several tries. It's in a good home now though, I'm sure whoever bought it fixed it up right and is rocking out somewhere as we speak. :-)

  • Great demo! I like how you play similar arpeggios and change settings- really lets you hear the pedal... Thank You!

  • Wonderful. I just got one of these for free.... Same block logo and no L.E.D. I also aquired a 1974 Script Logo Distortion Plus for $20. It sounds amazing.....I think I have good gear karma. Its the Bud Box build.

  • country stuff get the cs3. for rock stuff get the mrx

  • True, you might be right about the Keeley but I never tried them ^^ the new Dynacomps suck indeed, but you have to buy the MXR dynacomp '76, if you have the money.

    Way warmer then the CS-3.

  • mmm save money and get the keeley... it is way more BetteR!!!!

becasue the newerDyna comp are nothink like the one in this video... the keeley compressor is great compressor.. best IMO

  • I have the CS-3 and I tried the MXR afterwards and if I compare them, the MXR wins, definately.

  • Marshall ED-1
