Time lapse movie over 2 days of blooming indoor habanero plant. Notice how blooms open and close as the light source is turned on and off, respectively. Each frame is 30 mins, at 15 fps. Taken with Canon Powershot S2 IS with flash turned on. Hope to do longer time lapse in future.

  • what light cycle is required to get habaneros to fruit? 12/12?

  • @nuttnice187 I don't believe they are very sensitive to that. I've tried 16/8 all the way to 12/12. General rule of thumb: the longer the light, the more it grows & produces, but I would be wary of doing anything beyond 16 hours of light.

  • Wow, yours look alot more full than mine. I must be doing something wrong. Any tips or sites that may help? Mine flower and they the flowers fall off. Thanks.

  • This is called "Blossom drop", and it can be caused by a variety of factors. This plant suffered from the same thing because I had added too many nutrients to the soil (too much fertilizer). I fixed the problem by running a lot of distilled water through the soil (this is a potted plant, and I used maybe 2-3 gallons of distilled water per 1 gallon pot).

  • @pitabread112 Where are your plants? If they are inside, there are no bees. You would need to pollinate them manually. Outside, some sites have suggested planting poppy seeds close to the peppers so that the poppies can attract the bees necessary to pollinate the peppers. It you are getting NO blossoms, then the peppers are short of magnesium. Then you need to add that stuff that florist shops put in those little packages that they deliver with roses - magnesium sulfate aka Epsom salt

  • @zachetie I actually just started mine about three weeks ago...any tips to help make them HOT and healthy like they are supposed to be?
