Early on the afternoon of September 11th 2001, following the collapse of WTC 1 & 2, I feared a collapse of WTC 7 as did many on my staff. I made the decision -as ranking fire officer to clear a collapse zone surrounding the building and to stop all activity within that zone. Approximately three hours after that order was given, WTC 7 collapsed.

@blackjerryboymetal - I would say nothing of the sort. My entire family is NYPD and FDNY and has been since just after the Civil War. If you wanna hear some truth about WTC 7 then have a chat with them. It makes what I am saying sound tame.

I was standing on Greenwich St when NYPD & FDNY pushed us back and pulled all their vehicles out and we counted down the intentional destruction of WTC7. I WAS THERE. Where were you that day?

I am reading all these silly replies. I am a native NYer. On 9/11 I was working @ 225 B'way and living on E2nd. At about 5pm I was on the West Side Hwy. Police & Fire Pulled back and well all awaited WTC7 to fall. It was "Pulled" on purpose and not because of the day's events. This is an indisputable fact. Just ask a native NYer, or a member of the NYPD or FDNY of which my whole family is from.

whoever maxxewell is is an idiot. maybe the government wasnt behind 9/11. but theyre clearly withholding information from us. any fire (including fires with the presence of jet fuel) without the use of termate cannot possibly reach temperatures hot enough to destroy steel. Either way though, it doesn't explain the symmetrical collapse.

Diesel doesn't burn hot enough, or a truck wouldn't work.

paper burns near 800, and buildings like 7 burn themselves out and steel remains intact. it would also fall sideways.

You cannot demolish a steel and concrete building via a controlled explosion. A power plant near my home town in England was blown up except the chimneys and the main office building did not collapse as it was made from steel and concrete. The hear softened the steel gurders which were not installed properly. Now i am sure that this building was a controled explosion as i seem to remember it being mentioned on the news that they had to do this for safety reasons.

You cannot "bring a building down" in hours. It takes weeks and even months to prepare buildings to be demolished as this one was.
