I don't know what equipment he uses other than it is a USATT legal hardbat. A USATT legal hardbat is an all wood blade that is covered on both side by the same sheet of hardbat approved rubber. There is a list of about ten approved rubbers.
What it comes down to is that the particular equipment doesn't really matter much from a performance standpoint. It is mostly about "feel" and personal preference.
