@Disburden : I happen to know Lagavulin quite well and dare say that a few drops of water really open up the whisky and "unlock" the flavour. Without the addition of a few drops of water it tastes a bit congested and dense.
And it should go without much saying that ice is a big no-no in single malt whisky.

You mean he shouldn't be using a glass coffee mug with ice? LOL
-
Agreed, at least add water if you need to open up the flavor but I don't think this Lagavulin even warrants water since it's not over 48%.

tastes like good cough syrup...yum!
-
this guy would also be able to mix the lagavulin with ginger ale or cola!

this guy had never see an
glencairn glass,
the one and only perfect nosing & tasting glass für single malt whisky
Never, ever add ice to a good Scotch. Horrible advice.

I wonder who belives ice opens up the flavours in a whisky, its just a waste of quality whisky.. It is actually a few drops of water that opens up a whisky... This is the second eHOW video i have seen today with bad whisky info -look elsewhere for good whisky advices
