@gpackwood1: It's hard to imagine that a newborn impala (or a newborn anything, for that matter) would be "scent-free"; I would think it would have more to do with the newborn not having much of a flight instinct immediately after being born -- for example, cheetahs almost refuse to attempt to make a kill unless the prey animal first sets out to make a running escape.

Newborn Impala have no scent and therefor the Leopard had difficulty knowing what it was.

@leouae2009 She did kill the newborn less than 5 minutes after we had to leave the kill to make room for another vehicle. I'm somewhat glad I didn't actually see that but we heard it on the radio.
