We went to a leopard sighting and she was standing in a tree but intently looking into the distance. She was watching an Impala give birth and as soon as the Impala gave birth, the hunt was on. This was filmed using my flip Mino HD so sorry for the shakey video! It was taken in November 2011.

  • why leopard cant kill impala calf

  • @leouae2009 She did kill the newborn less than 5 minutes after we had to leave the kill to make room for another vehicle. I'm somewhat glad I didn't actually see that but we heard it on the radio.

  • fuck nature

  • @gpackwood1: It's hard to imagine that a newborn impala (or a newborn anything, for that matter) would be "scent-free"; I would think it would have more to do with the newborn not having much of a flight instinct immediately after being born -- for example, cheetahs almost refuse to attempt to make a kill unless the prey animal first sets out to make a running escape.

  • Newborn Impala have no scent and therefor the Leopard had difficulty knowing what it was.
