R.E.M. "Country Feedback" with Neil Young at the 1998 Bridge School Benefit. This bonechilling rendition is no less than an absolute masterpiece, Michael is not just singing this song, he's LIVING it... Enjoy !
Quote SPIN.com:
On October 24, Reprise Records will release The Bridge School Concerts, a retrospective CD/DVD package that culls together a slew of the annual nonprofit charity concert series' best moments in celebration of its 25th anniversary. SPIN is exclusively bringing you one such moment: a clip of the now-defunct R.E.M. digging into Out of Time cut "Country Feedback" in 1998, with benefit organizer Neil Young stepping in to provide some especially chilling guitar leads. The Bridge School, which educates children with severe speech and physical impairments, is set to receive all sales of the package.
Unquote.
Don't forget: October 24, COMING MONDAY ! GO GET THIS CD / DVD PACKAGE !!! It's for a worthy cause...!

Lyrics:
This flower is scorched
This film is on
On a maddening loop
These clothes
These clothes don't fit us right
I'm to blame
It's all the same
It's all the same
You come to me with the phone in your hand
You come to me with your hair curled tight
You come to me with positions
You come to me with excuses
Decked out in a robe
You wear me out
You wear me out
We've been through fake-a-breakdown
Self hurt
Plastics, collections
Self help, self pain,
EST, psychics, fuck all
I was central
I had control
I lost my head
I need this
I need this
A paper weight, junk garage
Winter rain, a honey pot
Crazy, all the lovers have been tagged
A hotline, a wanted add
It's crazy what you could've had
It's crazy what you could've had
It's crazy what you could've had
I need this
I need this
It's crazy what you could've had
It's crazy what you could've had
I need this
etc. etc.

I was at this show like 22 out of 25 years at Bridge This song playing made look into REM a little deeper. This was special for everyone to see. The Bridge shows are full of things like this. Neil brings so much to the table every year and brings out the best in everyone. I wish we could get more of those shows.

Unfortunately these concerts are taking place a bit too far away from where I live (Holland)... I have ordered the complete package of this 25th anniversary concert in the US 4 months ago, but unfortunately I still haven't received it... I wonder if it will ever come... :-(( Thanks for your comment ! :-))

I've only very recently discovered this song, despite being a huge fan of both Neil Young and REM. 'Like a Hurricane', 'In the Sun', and now this are up there with my favourite songs ever. This could even be my number one (if such a concept existed). A mind-blowingly amazing performance.

Ugh i get the biggest goose bumps when I'm listening to this song. So odd listening to his guitar tell a sad story.i f that makes any sense. I wish mike and kurtdt could have recorded before apr94. I believe they would have done big things in music and maybe other things...womens and homosexual rights. It is crazy...what you had and what you gave to us
