This is Jebus, one of the feral cats I take care of. I have been taking care of him for almost 4 years. His behaviour in this video is common for a feral cat. It's pure instinct that makes him meow & hiss at me the way he does here. It took me almost 2 years for him to trust me enough to pet him. Now he is a little sook. He trusts me implicitly and I do not fear him at all. He is just one of the many kitties that have the "cathouse" behind my home to go to for fresh water, food and shelter from the elements. I have managed to rescue 4 stray cats just this past winter.
Oh, and yes, I say "C'mon" a million times. :)

  • Sorry that Jebus disappeared. Perhaps he found a nice feral colony with many female friends to play with :) .

5 years ago we started adopting a feral adult. He'd hiss, yowl, and smash at my hands when I put food outside for him. Now, finally, he's become a lovely house cat. We had him neutered, but we won't declaw cats. He's funny though, even when wild, he never used his claws on me.

  • @77C15 I love your idea that Jebus found some lovin' with some females around here! ;)

Maybe he never used his claws because he instinctively knew you would take care of him. :)

  • Jebus is wonderful! I love how he was like, "Yes, of course I want something to eat! What's with the camera?!" lol He reminds me of some of the ferals I've cared for. Wonderful little house you have!

  • @SKaiba It is an awesome house that someone I know through our local volunteer society built for me!

  • You are an angel. Taking care of stray, or feral, cats like that takes a real kind hearted person.

  • @G1formation You can probably get him in a humane trap. A local animal shelter may lend you one in order to get him to a vet. But please, please Do Not get him declawed! It's cruel and wrong. (Just my opinion and the opinion generally of cat caregivers.) Good luck helping that poor fella out!!

  • You must have a sweet nature about you. I know how difficult it is to try and pet a cat who's just not having it.

  • Are you a crazy cat woman like that lady from the Simpsons?

  • Watching this video gives me hope for one of the excruciatingly nasty kittens I have been taking care of. He was okay up until I took him for neutering. Now he spits and hisses even when I am trying to feed him and his Mom and siblings. I was told that if cats are not socialized by 3 months forget about ever socializing them. I see you have proven that notion wrong. Hopefully, one day the nasty kitten will forgive me.. . .I was only trying to help.

  • aw just like my black feral cat but she cant deal with beeing touched when walking around like this *still after six years...* and she never learned to walk up by a humans legs. She do it with doors, corners and furniture, everything except me...

  • Thank you for saving these sweet angels. We also take care and feed several kitties that are feral. The one,Harold, is so sweet and after a year lets me per him and gives me head butts!!

  • Sometimes you can get traps to get the feral cats in-alive of course from your humane society. Take them to a friendly very and get them fixed and tested. We got two of our cats from outside. One as a kitten a year and a half ago..the best cat EVER. He we are convinced is a bombay..they are very vocal fun smart and don't shed much

  • they're adorable...i have a bombay named Baxter...i love bombays...i had one named Sonny until he passed away in April 2010...

  • @kissychaotica oh my.....can you really talk to that cat ?? they can really answer you... ^^

  • Thanks for uploading this...it totally reminds me of the kitty that was living under my house in the middle of freezing cold in January of '03. He somehow got himself stuck one night and I had to free him. He would have rather died than be touched before that, but once I gave him freedom and food he thought I was his savior. It took him about a year to stop acting wacky and hissing. He has a eating disorder, but he's a lovely clean boy now.

  • this is why ppl need to get their pets fixed. =( cats r a domesticated animal and it's just not healthy for them to be afraid of humans.
