@Nadia - My understanding is that Vivaldi wrote this piece specifically for a charitable all girls' orphanage school, so it is very likely that this piece was indeed intended and orginally performed by females. I found this info on Vivaldi on Wikipedia, although its not allowing me to post the link (?)
in that time the woman were no accept in the chorus, and the soprano line was singed by kids, the alto was singed by the boys and mens called "castrati" and the bass line was singed by man..
I agree it is odd to put an accomplished singer with the kids orchestra! It's not well matched. But it is what it is and the kids did very well and the singer coped as well. It's nice to know kids are out there playing so well. !
Actually, for KIDS, it's very very good, only I hadn't looked at the description, and on my computer the video does not show high definition (that is if the video IS in HD to begin with) so I couldn't tell from the video, especially underneath the wigs, but thanks for bringing it to my attention; although I find it a little ODD that they would put such an accomplished singer together with a childrens' orchestra. The costumes, a nice touch.
