  • Great voice, great arrangement. What a treasure she is!

  • Terrific!

  • @iseestarsinyou She's "so far better than the song" is the dumbest comment I've ever read - sorry! Barbara's been a HUGE Garland fan all her life, and although she knows she's incapable of belting in chest like Garland (she's said this MANY times), she loves Garland's material and genre so much that she occasionally attempts adaptations through arrangements. This song is a MASTERPIECE, but the FABULOUS Miss Cook doesn't have the pipes for belting a ballsy torch. She makes it a real squeaker.

  • Barbara would have been 80 years young and still the greatest !!!

  • She is amazing! Does anyone know how old she is on this video???

  • she's actually too good. it detracts from the song. i didn't think such a thing was possible. but this is a singer that is so far better than the song, it's unavoidable.

  • ¡Señora!

  • Yeah. The actual title of this video should be: "Sit Down and SHUT UP!!!" God, she's amazing. Love it.

  • There is only one voice that gets better every time she sings! Barbara Cook. I have been lucky enough to see her in almost all her Broadway hits (and flops) since the 1970s. Her concert at the Met in Jan. 2007, then her nights with the Philharmonic last year were so special. Just think: Cook sang at the Met without being miked, and you could hear her gorgeous voice anywhere in that huge hall. Her phrasing, emotional range, her marvelous control, her love of the audience are wonderful.

  • I could listen to this 100 times - and probably have. What a performance! Be sure to stay with it - it grows and grows...
