Speaking during a discussion on BBC Newsnight, Hugh Grant said:

"It stinks as a private dinner."

Jeremy Paxman responded:

"He can have dinner with who he wants, can't he."

Hugh Grant replied:

"Not if this is a major corporation trying to take over our biggest satellite broadcaster."

Mr. Grant went on to allege that The Sun newspaper HAD ACCESSED HIS MEDICAL RECORDS TOO.

The executive editor of the Times Roger Alton and Lord Fowler, who used to chair the Lords communications committee, also took part in the discussion.

Thanks to the BBC.

  • Murdoch is definitely scum.

  • @ComissarGramsci Mate, I don't understand how he has enjoyed so much power, for so long.

To you & me, it's nuts, but for 30 years, its been the norm.

Thank God culture is forever changing. Not one moment beofre time.

  • @NOTWPhoneHacking It's been impossible to fight him, it'd be career suicide. The hacking of Milly Dowler's phone crossed the invisible line. The British public are thought to be apathetic but they have a core of decency which can explode when triggered.

The hatred for Murdoch and his press was so strong there's nothing he could have printed - NOTHING - which the public would or could have accepted.

As soon as this story broke his organisation was dead.

  • @pockster Yes mate.

    Too true.

  • Who is the twit with his head up Murdoch's asshole saying that 'nobody did vote for Neil Kinnock' in 1992? 11.5 million voted for Neil Kinnock in 1992. Murdoch told people to vote Tory as part of a corrupt deal according to which later in the year after messing up the economy the Tories gave him monopoly right to live Premier league soccer. How many votes has Murdoch ever got? Zero. That's democracy.

  • @WestcountryDude Um...what?

  • Hugh Grant is actually alright isn't he. Well i'll be damned.

  • @pockster

Um, if that's true, why did the final edition of NOTW sell so well?

  • New Labour creates an authoritarian surveillance-State and Hugh Grant is upset about his medical records and David Cameron's dining arrangements. People are arrested and imprisoned for expressing opinions online. Arrested for exposing the State. Spied on my all and sundry. If anything, Murdoch has at least helped to create a useful diversion. The catastrophe of the year is that the Murdoch takeover of Sky never happened. Sky News spin is almost indistinguishable from the BBC these days.

  • That is disgusting publishing peoples medical records. Well done Hugh!

  • @NOTWPhoneHacking Money. Lots and lots of money.

  • I thought Hugh Grants solution for the publication of his medical records was nothing less than brilliant. To think that they refused giving money to a charity as a settlement is unthinkable. Sue away Hugh!!!

  • Hugh Grant took on Murdoch and the NWO and won - well done - youre a hero.

  • Heartless bastards not giving him a tiny bit of money for a charity compared to what they should've given him! Urkkk
