Ken Miller - What does Darwin mean to you?

Today at the Darwin Day symposium at the University of Pennsylvania, I caught up with Dr. Kenneth Miller and asked him "What does Darwin mean to you?"

Ken Miller is a biology professor at Brown University and coauthor of the popular high school textbook "BIOLOGY" He is also well know as the star witness for the plaintiffs in the "Kitzmiller v. Dover area school board" intelligent design trial.

He's speaking at my university next Tuesday. I'm giving my students extra credit to go see him.

He was an excellent speaker. He was funny and informative. He's also a little league umpire and a baseball fan, so expect a few baseball metaphors in his talk. :-)

The last ~5 minutes were mostly apologist arguments for reconciling science & religion. His theology is basically "God works through nature"; he rejects Gould's NOMa.

But overall it was a great talk; he's very charismatic.

for the love of God, nothing against darwin, but evolution by natural selection was propossed long before darwin. i wont deny hes greatness as a biologyst , im sick and tired of darwin getting the price alone, what happen with al jahiz, ?? or with kant???? come on.

Where Crick&Watson really that insightful or did they push themselves in the right place at the right time? Reading Crick's "Amazing Hypothesis" did not seem that deep and he or Watson has said simpleton things about races.
