This is a feast for your ears and eyes! Two stone cold professionals battle it out on a tune that most of us are happy to avoid. This is amazing, contemporary jazz trombone playing! For more of the concert and Nils Wogram, one of Europe's finest modern jazz trombone soloists, please go to www.jonwelchmusic.com and purchase the "Masters of Brass" Film featuring Nils Wogram (available summer 2009). The film includes more concert excerpts and a generous sampling from Nils' "History of Jazz Trombone Workshop" which he gave at the Slide Factory European Trombone Festival in March of 2009 in Rotterdam. A lengthy interview is also included in which he discusses music and traces the development of his style and how he practices to maintain and develop it. The film portrait (ca. 180 minutes) will be available in the of summer 2009 as a download in the Online Store at www.jonwelchmusic.com. Enjoy!

IF YOU DIDN'T NOTICE, THEY SPED IT UP TO DOUBLE TIME, AND THAT INCLUDED THE CHANGES AS WELL. Don't knock these guys, I don't know about Nils Wogram, but I can say HArry Watters is one of the best trombone players I have ever heard, jazz/classical whatever.

  • man this dont count they playin it too slow

  • Beautiful rendition of this tune... I really enjoyed your approach to the great John Coltrane's classic tune. Please keep up the good work... This is a tune that separates the "Men from the boys" People, who don't know enough music theory usually "choke" on the Chord changes every two beats... Well done!

  • Wow, the first soloist had a great dark tone and smoooooooth legato throughout his whole range. This second soloist had great clarity and great ideas. But then again, they are professionals lol.

  • This is disappointing. I'd like to hear them play it at the original tempo.

  • This is amazing!!

  • this is some serious playing

  • Noice

  • @mnagsy So I guess you'd like to take two acapella choruses on Giant Steps? These guys are playing great melody. No matter what speed it's at, that's impressive.
