Berlin Artist Alex Schweder La's Evaporative Buildings at ArtPrize
This was a hidden gem that most people missed at ArtPrize 2010.
It was a powerful experience to sit in a dark room as the air filled with mist and the penetrating beams of light. It is hard to convey here so let me just close by saying that you had to be there to truly understand its power.
Art form: 3-D, Film / Video, Performance
Medium: Video Projection and Mist
Year created: 2009
Description of work: Made from projections and mechanically induced precipitation which serve as a "screen" for a cyclical loop of video projections: rectangular shapes, recessed one behind another, which rise, fall, and move through the mist in ever-shifting patterns. The projected shapes resemble stacked architectural sections at one moment, phantasmal apertures the next: unreliable exits and entrances, flickering bluish in the mist.

Hey, were we supposed to talk through it? I kind of have a feeling we were since the entrance was so small.
