  • I don't know on that filter Tinny hmmm, seems a lot of leaking around it to contaminate to me. Microbes after all. Hmmm

  • This bottle adapter is upside down and is not designed to be water tight . Also this is on the clean water side. This filter is very well designed and in the filter mode has NO I repeat NO way of cross contaminating your filtered water. You just didn't think this thru before commenting. That happens a lot.

  • tinny, i went though a lot of frustration screaming and until i calmed down and read your posts on this filter. it's actually a great design and once i understood how to completely take it apart and use it is is THE pump i use on multi-day hikes. i was using a steri-pen adventurer (still a good system) but i now i only take it on day hikes. i don't like to depend on the batteries and the weight penalty is nil. thanks again tinny!! have a great day!

  • To eliminate the growth of bacteria or mold, always disinfect the filter before or

after long-term storage, or after long-term use (15+ consecutive days).

    1. Mix a solution of 2 drops of household bleach to 1 liter of water.

  • Nice video, I appreciate you taking the time. There is one point that I'm not sure is correct. The part about the cylinder snapping back meaning that the filter integrity is good, I think that test is really just testing the reversed red valve. You do that test and you will find the red valve locked shut. This valve being air locked is the most common cause of issues with back flushing.

  • So you need clean water to backflush it? What if it clogs and you have no clean water? What would you do?

  • So how do you do this backflushing without a nalgene bottle? I dont carry them, I think they are to big and bulky.

  • I would like to get one of these filters for myself.

  • So true but I have a filter because the past doesn't represent the future you never know when we might need to exercise caution with regards to water I am getting in shape and preparing just in case we need to run to the hills. What is stable now can be a dictatorship over night Russia is not moving with out USA knowing what is going to happen Imagine the three super powers uniting to grip all the power.

  • now you do some more reasearch yes that whole mess is true about sanitary conditions but the chance of getting a waterborne virus is almost ZERO in the US woods just a little thought

  • In some areas of the country, I still like the Miniworks' carbon core ceramic filter, specifically for the odor and taste removal. Do you carry an additional carbon filter with the Hiperflow?

  • So when we handle the inners of any filter we should always wash our hands. Second when performing a black flush use a container special for this or add bleach to our backflush water to disenfect our bottle prior to backflushing. Read the full article quoted ealier you will be healthier. I will get a steri pen now that I have read the article. Placing a negative review on me don't change the fact's that have been documented.A BUM rating will not stop any from cross contaminating our food& H2O.
