(Sacramento) - The Legislative Budget Conference Committee has produced a plan that solves Californias deficit responsibly with the balanced approach Californians want: Real cuts, limited new revenues and other solutions that help California ward off a cash crisis later this summer, maintains a small portion of the safety net and still leaves a healthy reserve in place. Assembly Speaker Karen Bass (D-Los Angeles) explains in this Democratic weekly address Democrats have accepted the Governors realistic budget proposals to solve the deficit but, in standing up for California families, Democrats have rejected his short sighted and indefensible proposals for eliminating the safety net in California. Speaker Bass says the Assembly and Senate will vote on the Conference Committee plan next week.
