And these huggers curse you right before they go to Ikea or Walmart to get a new bookcase to put more books about saving the earth on. Most hikers wouldn't last carrying your gear into the places you go either.

So can someone tell me how this works? is the forest cut down in cycles? i.e. one section is cut down, then another, and another, but in the mean time the first section is left to grow back?
if so, how long does it take for that section to grow back ready to be logged again?

@a2dds depends place to place, but i've logged areas my grandfather had previously logged 60 yrs ago.

Where as you guys located? And who do you work for? Just wondering cause if I graduate from high school early which would be two and a half years from now then I would love to log with you guys. And I do live in Colorado which we do heli logging in Vail, Colorado. And a lot of it , too.

@Daisymay380 I would try get on the ground crew for one of the heli logging companies around you first. You want to work your way into falling getting experience as you go. But it is a kick ass job just have to always be alert and planning your moves because theres always a couple fallers that get killed every year!

good fallers don't bust the tree on stumps. thanks for the video though.

That tree will go as pulp which can be random length logs. A good faller can judge the grade of a tree before he falls it and will take that into consideration when deciding on where to fall it. Why don't you put up some videos on your page showing us how a "good" faller does it?
