This extraordinary concerto must have impressed everyone at the first performance - most likely written to be played for the fireworks display that attended the celebration of the marriage of a fairly minor German princess to the future Russian Tsar in 1745, it is scored for three choirs, each consisting of three trumpets, timpani, three oboes and bassoon - and there are hints that the (at least) oboe parts were doubled. Incidentally, the seemingly unimportant princess went on to rule as Catherine the Great! The music used in this edition is available as a score and performing parts from Brian Clark's "Prima la musica!" Be sure to inquire!

  • @The010Snap yes, Fschis really like a insider tip.

  • was'nt handel's fireworks composed in 1748? if so, could handel have known of fasch's work? i know that handel's wassermusik was inspired by michel-richard de-lalande's

concert pour les canales de versailles" so why not fasch as a model...?

  • @Nuk1eus

    thanks bro

  • @kajsije Same like the word "fush" would be pronounced in English.

  • how does 1 pronounce Fasch

  • I want to thank you uploading Fasch. I admit that I have not been a fan of the Dresden (not a big fan of the galante style) musicians apart from Zelenka, but I am beginning to appreciate Fasch and others thanks to your uploads. I am never too old to appreciate good music. BRIAN

  • Great music, but the marriage you mentioned in fact took place in 1745
