My take on American Psycho, the book!
All I've done in university for the past four years is analyze the crap out of things, so hopefully I'm putting my skills to good use =P.

Enjoy!

  • The analysis was overall pretty good. I know it's not easy to analyze, especially American Psycho, but since you made a video 'bout it, you could have focused more on the iterations (returning videotapes & les misérables), their meaning and on Patrick Bateman's level of "insanity", meaning the open-left question about whether he imagined the homicides or not.

But you're authentic, so is your review, keep doing it.

I'm going to subscribe you, so

    LIVE, LOVE & LAUGH =)

  • @Graenelolz Ahahahah. I totally agree with you, actually, now that you mention it the video was a big longer and I discussed the fact that there is that huge possibility that everything is in his head but I cut it short :(. And I agree the videotape thing is hugely significant, I just didn't know what exactly it eluded to. Maybe just how silly it was especially amidst such a serious and gory novel?

  • @Graenelolz Or maybe the fact that everyone around him is so narcissistic and wrapped up in themselves that they could settle for such an excuse time and time again without further questioning. I also thought it was ironic that Les Mes was so publicized considering the context of the story especially in comparison tot his lavish lifestyle. But other than that if you have any takes on all of those themes send them my way! And yes, you as well, survive, giggle there and there and adore ;)

  • you are fantastic! and so is this book which i have in audio version and i frequently listen to at the gym while working out like Patrick lol

  • @aeonminded Aww shucks thank you! I can see how that would be a good work out motivator minus the violent parts haha

  • i was wondering if you had ever heard of a book called graceling?if not i think you would really like that one.

  • @blacksamurai20 Hey! Thanks for watching!! Noo I haven't heard of it but I'll def look into it for a summer read, I have odd taste in books, some would say I'm morbid ahah

  • Don't just stare at it, Lema. Eat it!

  • i like to dissect girls, did you know i'm utterly insane :P

  • nice! :)

  • Awesome review, where did you goto school? The dexter reference was spot on. The narcissistic tendencies, identity confusion, and misogyny and degradation towards woman reminded me of Mad Men's Don Draper. Both men try to convey humanistic behaviors that are just...off, and even if they gain a bit of insight, it ultimately leads to nothing redemptive for them.

  • ur purdey

you can be my Jean any day ;)

  • This Is Not An Exit.

  • however I have come to conclusion that my handsomnes is earned through a multitude of girls showing obvious physical attractive signs to me (Kate saying she likes the tone of my voice when im reading which is clear and crisp then her pushing my chair backwards and forwards whilst saying it looks like hes fucking someone, id say overall about 20, maybey 25 girls have been either attracted to me openly or clearly in love with me, this one girl beth wright said it openly

  • @Lemasal The reason LM has been publicized, is cause it only appears when something really gross happens, generally to critizice modern society.

I don't know if you read much BEE books, but if you do, you'll realize that everything he does is a big, ugly maze of mirrors, though his books can be hilarious (the narcism in American Psycho). You'll march in and find your way out confused & anguished and that's what I think makes him an important author in our modern world - his painful honesty.
