Iowa DNR Spring Turkey Hunting

Hi, I'm Jeff Barnes, Recreational Safety Officer with the Iowa DNR, with tips to help you have a safe and successful spring turkey hunting season.

Resist the urge to stalk turkey sounds. It is nearly impossible to sneak up on a wild turkey. It is also unethical and could lead to an accident.

When transporting your decoys or a harvested wild turkey, ensure that they are not visible. Stash the decoys or harvested turkey in your vest or camouflaged or orange bag so the head and body are not visible.
