I just got back from my trip to Ireland where I spent part of the day in Belfast for the C.S. Lewis tour. The red door in your video is the door to the rectory where Lewis's grandfather lived. By chance, a man there allowed me to go in and look around. He showed me a closet upstairs that was said to be the inspiration for the wardrobe. Have you ever heard of that? I always though the inspiration for the wardrobe came from one that was in home - Little Lea.

Thanks very much. Yep, I'm from Belfast itself.

I read on another website that the man in the statue was actually W.T. Kirkpatrick (Lewis' tutor - the "Great Knock") peering into the wardrobe which made no sense to me since that would be meaningless to a lot of Lewis fans especially children. Have you heard that before? Plan to be in Belfast next week and want to have my facts straight.

I haven't heard this and it would seem rather odd to have Kirkpatrick in the statu instead of Lewis as you say. The statue does have a small plague mounts on the ground but actually I couldn't tell you what's written on it. I hope you enjoy your visit to Belfast it is a new city now with lots to do when you get here
