Cougar CF-V12HP
120x120x25mm
PWM RPM 800-1500

Tested using variable voltage from power supply. Slightly louder than Gentle Typhoon 1850rpm, but moves more air.

  • Hey Metalcastr, I have a question.

On your voltage supply tool, is the top number the amperage being pulled from the fans? Or is it something else? I got that the bottom part is the voltage, but I have yet to see ANY confirmed numbers on the Cougar Vortex fans amp pull. Because I am looking to get a fan controller and I want 4 cougars on one channel, and I can handle a max of 10w per channel. So if these babies only pull 0.18 amps per fan (0.18 x 12v = 2.16w x 4 = 8.64 watts) and it should work

  • @darkl3ad3r Correct, that's the amps.

  • @darkl3ad3r Also, the fans will draw a bit more when starting, you might have to take that into consideration if starting at full power.

  • Can you do the same test on Noctua NF-F12 PWM in compare with Cougar and Gentle Typhoons? The new Noctua seems to have high static pressure...

    thanks

  • @cglin222 Good idea, I will remember this when making future videos.

  • I notice you said it comes with a molex adapter, does it not have a standard 3pin adapter already attached? I'm going to buy 4 of these along with a fan controller for my new PC build but the controller I want only has a 3pin connector versus 4pin.

  • @JayTheProgrammer It has a standard 4-pin attached. You will still be able to control the speed using your 3-pin controller, using variable voltage.

  • @Metalcastr I decided to go with a different fan controller, one that allows 12w per channel. I assume that 4 of these on one channel with a couple PWM Y splitters should be sufficiently powered from my controller.

Thanks for responding and confirming. Great review my man, really you should be getting sponsored by these companies to review their products if you aren't already. Top notch quality and detail.

  • @teeblack06 I buying two for the exact same thing, H100. I don't know how to water cool a system yet and have been watching vids on how to do it down the road for when I try dual vid cards but for now the H100 plus two cougar fans should suffice.

  • @Maul9999 No problem.

  • @Heroe10x Oh okay. Thank you for tips.

  • @Maul9999 Just push it off its very easy.
