  • I just got one of these helis for free. Had no battery, no charger, and no controller that I could find...but anyway the controller would cost around $55, and the battery and charger would cost (I don't know, anyone else know?) Is it worth it to get the things to get this in the air (guessing like just under $100) or is it such an outdated thing that I'd be better off putting it on a shelf, and buying myself a more modern, up-to-date heli with a brushless motor, and carbon fiber blades?

  • @Hogwit it depends on your level. Starting out CF main blades and brushless power won't help you much; the more powerful motor can even make learning troublesome. If you post an ad on RCGroups.com someone will sell you a pre-owned transmitter for less than 55.00. Batteries are a necessary expense but again, someone will sell you some 800 mah 3s batteries for less.

One way or the other you are going to do lots of repair and reassembly so it may even be to your advantage to start right it!

  • Did I see that you were using the longer AXE blades?

  • @Bryanisms yes, back when I was searching for any way to keep it in the air while I developed basic flying skills.... ;)

  • cool. I got some skids a while ago. They are cool. The Carbon Fiber skids look good in my opinion. White doesn't match, but it does bring out the heli. Also, along your flight, I dont see any glitching in your heli... When I did the antenna setup like you did, it glitches, so I just wrapped the antenna around the skids like it came originally. Also, cool, we are city neighbors... kinda.

    Happy Flight!

  • For the record I stopped using SuperSkidz a few months after this video was made. The stock LG are lighter and work well after an RC pilot learns to land softly.

  • @charles1967 i have a cx2.. did a mass transport project in school so i got to do speed tests in school with it today. 2.56 m/s, but thts with a plastic platform attached to skids (less lift) and little time to accelerate.

  • @chuanist Ah. So, was it more docile? Float better or something? I just did the direct drive tail rotor upgrade for it. Haven't flown it yet with it.

  • The fins come with the Superskidz after market landing gear. They are okay for first steps. I took them off later to save weight and improve handling.

  • I like your tail and boom assembly. Where did you get it? It looks a lot cooler than the stock stuff. I just got my CP after flying the crap out of a CX2. So far it's been enormously challenging, but I'm sure I'll progress.
