Famous naval officer Lord Horatio Nelson was feted as one of the greatest heroes England ever had. But this song looks at the other side of war. Trafalgar Day celebrations are still held to mark the victory won by Vice-Admiral Horatio Nelson's British fleet over the combined French and Spanish fleets at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805.
The song was written by Ned Couch, Devon folk singer/songwriter.

what shit, if anyone could be half the man Nelson was they'd be doing well and who cares what this "sad lush" is on about, just a no-one going nowhere,if it wasn't for Nelson and the navy you'd be speaking a cross between Spanish and French you fool

i like the tune to this song but not the words. Lord Nelson was a great leader and hero - its small minded to critize him. He did what he had to do and people weren't brought up in cotton wool and generally they were harder times - a long time ago, different times, the people who fought with him have not been forgotten either, this is absurd.

I wasn't talking to you?
Obviously the common sailor were heroes but victory would not have been ours without Nelson or indeed Collingwood

what a bunch of ignorance you speak, i have no feeling of shame for our glorious history, the common English sailor was a true hero, not just the men who commanded them, the English have everything to be proud of you silly man

Another song to try and make us feel guilty of our history. This song is a disgrace.
