This is a request from two of my Bodhran students. Here is an example of a way of playing a beat pattern for a jig. I play it from slow to fast. Under normal circumstances you should never get to the speed towards the end.

  • still cant play triplets :(

  • Anyone got a clue on what the dimensions are on that tipper? is it heaver on one side or what? I play the trad Kerry style but want to start top end.

  • Joshua,

Good stuff, and helpful to expanding my small repertoir of rhythms. Question: It seems you're doing a single ended triplet. Am I correct, or are you sneaking in the other end? (Web cams lack clarity sometimes) :-)

  • Thanks Joshua.

I'm still learning to play the bodhran and have been looking for techniques and practice tips for topend playing. I really appreciated the slow play of the pattern. Please do more!
