From the Dulwich Picture Gallery Collection. Venetia Stanley went to bed one night and never woke up again leaving many grieving people. Her husband, so distraught, asked Van Dyke to capture her beauty while she lay dead in bed. Ian Dejardin gives us an insight into why she died so mysteriously.

The painter is Anthony van Dyck? It looks so modern compared to all the other portraits he made.

Their is a wonderful Van Dyke
