This is the race Alysheba went from being very good to great. He showed more tactical speed and what became his trademark middle move that would put him on the lead at the top of a stretch. Great year winning 6 grade 1 races from February to November. Candi's Gold had 4 months when he was quite good, running 2nd by a half length to Sheba in the Super Derby, running a close 4th in the Breeders Cup Classic, and then the Strub.

Alysheba was just too classy for the field. He was a "superstar". Very game effort by Candy's Gold though. Thanks for the great post. Take care.
