Today Issac gets to meet Dr Mercer , one of the main antagonists in the game heres a little info on him.

Doctor Challus Mercer was a scientist aboard the USG Ishimura. Mercer is portrayed as a devout Unitologist, and once things begin to go wrong, Mercer becomes fanatically obsessed with the Necromorphs; believing their ability to reanimate necrotic flesh is a sort of life after death.

He performs several medical experiments on the crew of the Ishimura; one such test resulted in the Regenerator. Like many aboard the Ishimura, Mercer is insane. He advocated mass suicide amongst the crew, keeps severed human body parts in his office, and views the human race as obsolete in the face of the Necromorphs. He views Isaac Clarke's struggle to survive as admirable but misguided, and attempts to kill him on several occassions; including having the Regenerator attack Isaac, and even shutting off life support in areas Isaac travels.

  • When you think about, Unitology is a valid belief system within the context of the Dead Space universe since the necros and markers are in fact real...

  • @Kwerner88

Probably because they're both dangerous, unstoppable ugly bastards that run at you no matter how much you shoot them.
