Have you ever heard of a Snoezelen room? Snoezelen, a Dutch word meaning to explore and relax, is a revolutionary therapy for people with autism and similar sensory processing disorders. The rooms are designed to enhance relaxation and comfort, exposing users to multiple sensory stimulation combining vision, sounds, and touch.
Through the hard work of one very determined teacher, the students at Stockton Elementary School, a Chicago Public School located in the Uptown neighborhood, are fortunate to have one of these special and unique rooms, right in the middle of their school.
Extremely cool! What an amazing SLP!!!

People who make a difference in the world - for the better - are hard to find. I happened to have had the privilege of being Marilyn Sandler's next door neighbor. Though we don't see each other quite as much as we should, our families are still every bit as close as we ever have been! I still remember conversation's with her about something she was working on called a Snoezelen room. What a wonderful example for us all to follow. What a hero you are for all your kid's! Your friend, Jerry T.
