What a difference a day makes here in Utah. Yesterday we set record rainfall totals for the intensity in short durations. In 5 minutes .39 inches of rain fell; in 10 minutes .66 inches fell and in 15 minutes .87 inches fell at the Salt Lake City Airport. These are once in 100 year rainfall intensity records, and obviously the heavy rain that fell in an arc from the Salt Lake Airport to Herriman, Riverton, South Jordan and over to Draper caused significant flooding problems. In particular the burn scar in Corner Canyon and up the side of the mountain released a mud slide and water caused flooding in 10 to 20 homes due to the heavy rain.

No such thing today. A nice and quiet start to the day with temperatures in the 60's with be warming into the 80's to near 90 under sunny conditions. Always remember that this time of the year the UV is quite intense between about 10 AM and 4 PM, so use the SPF 30 or higher sunscreen if you intend to spend much time outside. You can also wear appropriate hats and clothing to lessen the risk of sunburn.

Tropical moisture will surge northward on Sunday, bringing at least a few thunderstorms to the Wasatch Front late in the day and into Sunday night and Monday. A little more Monsoonal moisture will remain a threat for daily thunderstorms in the mountains and across Eastern and Southern Utah most of next week. Temperatures will waffle from the high 90's on Saturday, back into the high 80's on Monday and Tuesday of next week, but generally highs will remain in the 90's for the next 7 days.
