@lilnumo101 Midge is pulling back from the mike deliberately. To pick up the low vocal part at the begining of each verse the microphone channel is turned way up. To prevent overloading the channel in the loud bits Midge pulls back from the microphone and sings away from it so the mic only picks up vocal indirectly. It's called microphone technique, all singers who know what they are doing use it. They just do it different ways.
