Criminals may be used to looking over their shoulders for police, but a new crime-fighting tool introduced in Florida means they will now also be looking above their heads.

Officers in the town of Palm Bay are being sent aloft on motorised Paragliders to act as spies in the sky, in a first-of-its-kind mission codenamed Operation Soar.

Suspended beneath Paragliders wearing lawnmower-style motors on their backs, they will patrol the skies looking for burglars, car thieves and missing children,
equipped with radios, cameras and GPS navigation systems.

  • Wait until they find out the Black Hawk PPG they have will require more wrenching hours than flying once those motors have accumulated some hours...

In this industry you get what you pay for, they all run great as long as they are new.

  • Fuck the Police!

  • Dear God, please tell me none of our tax dollars were used to support this boneheads hobby. Pathetic crap as usual from PB...

  • i guess they use those to search for weed

so that may smoke it and get more retarded ideas..lol..idiots

  • Hey Palm Bay Pd, you guys are ALL FAGS. Get a squad car. Damn. I come from the Ghetto, Flint, Michigan. You would get shot in the air if you pulled this crap in the city I come from. Be careful, ya'll are retarded as hell for this. Our tax dollars really pay for parasailing? Did we vote this in? Give me a break.

  • As a matter of fact. I just got my new Garmin up with me yesterday. So vids will be up shortly. Though I have nothing to prove. And admitidly I consider myself a novice. I have flown Upwards of 8,000 ft above Charolotte harbor in the afternoon. And my buddy paul flew to 10,000ft same flight. And have the vids and pics to prove it. Just because I don't show off like you. Doesn't mean I don't know what I am talking about.

  • We are all sure you have done that...

All those great flying videos you uploaded show proof of your experience in Powered Paragliding!

    ;-)

  • By "them" or maybe more by who sold them the POS units they are flying!?

  • This was a total waste of money. You can't even fly those things at night, my girl friends mom works at pbpd and said that the officers that started the program did it as a hobby to. That's probably the reason it was so encouraged by them.
