I'm playing Blink 182 - Carousel bass intro. I´m not a bass player, so it´s not flawless, I know.

Please check out my new video on this intro here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZRWY6kDSgY

  • any particular pick size thats recommended for this song?

  • @Bworacek Jim Dunlop Tortex Standard .60 mm :)

  • @Holm182 lol, i dont play pick because i play terrible. No wonder, i am using a 2mm pick. Is this not recommended ? :P

  • @MrJoris0123

Personally, I would not recommend anyone to use a 2mm pick for bass playing as I think it's way to sturdy! You should try out the Dunlop Tortex Standard .60mm (the orange ones), these are the ones I use for electric guitar and bass!

Well first of all I'm a guitarist, not a bassist, which I even wrote in the description. I don't really get your point? You say that playing with a pick is for "punk cocksuckers", well this is the intro of a punk song and therefore you should understand that you use a pick in this specific genre. I would agree with you if I were playing a metal song with a pick, but on this specific song I think a pick is the way to go. And I don't think it's a lack of skill, but a matter of taste

I use a pick on this specific song because Mark Hoppus plays with a pick. You get a totally different sound in my opinion when playing with a pick. First of all it just sounds more distinct and trebly and not as dull as when playing with fingers. Second of all you can actually hear the sound of the pick hitting the strings, which I think adds a lot to the final sound. On the other hand there are a lot of genres where I'd choose to play with my fingers instead.

  • I play guitar and bass more bass than guitar but there are songs that need a pick for it to sound good. Most bass players now days actually use picks, just saying.

  • @Warwick9969 stfu soo what i play with a pick it comes down to what are you most comfortable with........faggot.

  • @Bworacek my fav. is the firestone .81.

  • @Holm182 no for bass i suggest Dunlop max grips 1.5 they work way better

  • Why using a pick was a problem here..? LOL

  • @1994Danny1994 i swear im so sick of these idiots talking shit about fingers vs picks

  • Almost got it man!

  • i have been playing bass for three months and can play this song at about 3 quarters as fast as its supposed to be played. my problem is that i don't use a pick. Anyway great cover. i agree that using a pick makes it sound much better. keep playing.
