Free Will

How is it truly our choice when we didn't chose the feelings/desires that influence those choices? So long as distortions such as emotion, natural inclination etc exist, true free will, will not.

Regarding that we are all influenced by our genes (as you explained already) and the way we were educated, the way we feel towards our family ties, the way friends treat us, the way we learn to see the world. All of that influences us day by day. We cannot change and our very every action will be an result of our genes and our social envrionment in the end. But regarded this way, world would be a sad place and humanity wouldn't have any choices at all. Therefore we imagine to have a free will...

So true lol when I figured this out,I was pretty pissed how controlled I was, bound to psychological categories of how we are because of influences.It's unavoidable, but there truly isn't free will.We're basically built in a certain way to act the way we act and choose the way we choose. We become who we are with our surroundings and ppl around us, so in the end, we decide on what we've been turned into by everything we've been through. Thats y psychologists can understand ppl really quick.

To you, what are the implications of there being "little" free will? The only thing I can derive from that belief is freedom from responsibility for bad choices. I mean, there are definitely lots of physical and chemical laws that govern how we behave, it's entirely probably that electrical laws and other unknown physical laws determine what seem to be our free choices... But we still make those choices based on what we know, and those choices still impact the world around us.

You can have weakness and desire- but that doesn't mean we have to act on it. Most of people does, it's fact. But things like boner and hunger - those are signals from body in case if it's functioning well.

My friend, Rev, and I always used to talk about this. Only, instead of feelings, we demonstrated using a bottle of hand sanitizer. People are great hand sanitizer dodgers, if you were to throw a bottle of hand sanitizer at someone, they would instinctively dodge. There was no choice, no will in that. Tell me what you think.
