Razor Sharp is an original tune by guitarist and Rowan University faculty member Brian Betz. Denis DiBlasio (Director of Jazz Studies at Rowan) and Gerry Deloach also solo. Steve Varner is on bass and Jim Miller (also Rowan faculty) is on drums. Recorded at Chris' in Philadelphia on May 19, 2007.
I'm lucky to have Professor Betz as the small ensemble instructor at my community college. Despite saying "I can't play drums", he always manages to lay down an awesome groove whenever our drummer is absent. He also helps our bass player in coming up with effective lines to the pieces we play. He's sat down at the piano once or twice and showed me chords and better voicings I could use for comping.
Betz isn't just an amazing guitarist, he knows all facets of jazz like it's his life and soul.

Brian Betz is a leader, visionary, and virtuoso. At the young age of 29 he is shaking the very foundations of the jazz world and passing on his incredible skills to youngins like myself. All hail Brian Betz.
