AM: [thoughtful nod] Lets talk about McCrackens Coup at the CRTC Hearing on Community Television.
JN: Right Andru McCracken and John Grogan made a presentation to the CRTCs hearing on the future of Community Television in Canada, but I wouldnt call it a coup.
AM: Id call it a coup. They listened to him for 10 minutes and the vice chairman for broadcasting, Michel Arpin said he spent an hour watching Valemount Live.
JN Yeah, then patted him on the head while deciding how not to implement meaningful changes to Community TV policy.
AM: Thats a little premature. They might take his suggestions.
JN: I doubt it, did you see his presentation?
AM: No, did you?
JN: Yeah, go to the VCTV Website to see a link to the whole sordid show. AM: They taped it?
JN: Yeah. Furthermore weve got a copy of the montage McCracken put together to highlight our show.
AM: You mean he showed clips from our Valemount LIVE! to the commissioners at the CRTC?
JN: Yeah.
AM: What did they think?
JN: Commissioner Arpin thought it was the bomb, 2 commissioners laughed, one smiled, one was deadpan and two appeared to be choking on something.
AM: How long do you think we have left?
JN: It takes at least a month to revoke a broadcasting license.
AM: I guess we may as well make hay while the sun shines.
JN: Sure, Lets show folks that montage.
MONTAGE HIGHLIGHTS
AM: Tune in next week when foreign Correspondent Zachary Schneider interviews international traveler, Bernhardt duToit.
JN: duToit recently returned from South Africa, one of the few parts of the world that Schneider hasnt visited yet.
AM: Not true, he was just recently in the Sahara Dessert in northern Somalia.
JN: What are you talking about? Thats half a continent away from South Africa.
AM: Wherever it is Zachary and Berhnhardt will be here next week.
JN: Thats all we have for you tonight.
AM: If youre watching this live, you may still have the chance to get tickets for Dinner with Ingrid.
JN: She plays at 7pm at the Dunster Hall. Its a dinner thing, so you need tickets in advance. Call Seth MacDonald in Dunster now!
AM: Also coming up is the Valemount Arts and Cultural Societies ultimate show for this season.
JN: The performing arts group Red Sky will tell a traditional story Raven Stole the Sun through theatre and dance.
AM: In the story, Raven tries to satisfy his overwhelming sense of curiosity, and hatches a brilliant scheme for stealing the stars, the moon and the sun and ends up bringing light to people.
JN: I wonder how the Raven would feel about a prison in Valemount.
AM: The show is on May 12 at the community theatre
JN: It includes an art show by local inuit artist Julia Thrasher and her brother Willie Thrasher who is an accomplished musician.
AM: Tickets are $22 for adults and $15 for kids and are available at Infinity.
JN: The Robson Valley Toastmasters are having a guest speaker on that same night May 12. Humourist and motivator, Keith Reyes PHD will be in town. Admission is by donation at the Bear Paw Room.
AM: Reyes will be speaking on the Road to Success.
JN: Thats all for tonight.
AM: Goodnight
JN: Goodnight
