For just under two years, Kaliningrad has been a special free economic zone.. An improved investment climate was meant to attract foreign companies to the Russian exclave. Companies that invest at least 4 million euros in the Kaliningrad region enjoy customs and tax breaks.

Several foreign investors have taken the bait and gone into Kaliningrad. One of them is the German HIPP group, which receives advice from the German trade representative in Kaliningrad. He says many investors are dissatisfied at present, because both legal protection and infrastructure are inadequate. The central question is whether the Russian Federation will keep its word and significantly improve the investment climate and legal guarantees.

  • @twangeste that is part of Sovok mentality in USSR it was bad to call cops on someone for example, that gives us many crimes that no one cares about+ everyone criticized govn. yet no one wanted to be in it cuz of GULAG & Risks & Responsibility. Russia and the whole world need new goal...you know to compete and thrive for and that new goal is SPACE. Space exploration is like Columbus in 21st century ...in space communism is only possible way with democracy fits Russian mentality perfectly.

  • @jerseyflex238 there's logic in your words man though I disagree about the Sovok mentality. In many cases Russia people don't give a fuck (quite literally) about anything and that's the main problem. what could be done to change the situation? Another revolution? Definitely not that good solution and it won't happen without spilling blood which is not good at all. people tend to get certain stability and are ready to pay with personal freedom for it. Some leave the country...

  • @twangeste I love it when my fellow Russians say the SYSTEM... it's all about Czarist System, Communist System, Democracy of 1991 System, Putins System...угу, всё система проклятая. Yet, It's really all about people...you put Germans under Putin's system...they will build Bavaria in Siberia. It's all about people...and crying about system...doesn't really work. Change yourself...and perhaps world around you might change. It's that Sovok mentality...i guess.

  • @jerseyflex238 my dear friend, may I ask you where do you live? =) as judging by your suggestions you are pretty far from Russian reality. NO offence is meant man! what you said is really supposed to be so though all Russians would confirm that it's quite the same now in all regions of Russian federation - local ex-gangsters occupy all the highest government positions. It's made with some serious logic and purpose behind - rulers must be strong...alas! the system is FUCKED up =(

  • @twangeste it's useless... if you know who is "gangster" or "mafia" you take that shit to Court... the Law will Rule out...untill you do all that is said is meaningless.

  • @jerseyflex238 heh, why not?? =) but seriously - it's all damn one hell of a boring thing - the whole world is freaking unfair and Kaliningrad is way from being called "an exception". "Tax HAVEn for investors" sounds funny - they surely will do HAVE your investments =)

ps: several days ago one canadian woman was beaten brutally in Mexico so it's all on TV and in newspapers ("Mexicans beat Canadians")...

  • @twangeste ok, this statement is way too general. If one American gets killed in Mexico...now what, we would comment: They kill Americans there...losers. wtf.

  • @jerseyflex238 mate, I'm from Kaliningrad and I don't think it's an overall absurd statement. Kaliningrad's rulers - the whole top not just contains but rather consists of gangsters. and that Lithuanian investor who was killed - construction dude my father in law used to work with so I can confirm - he was killed. as about FSB - don't be funny =)

  • Lithuanian who? XD lol thats funny...I mean Kaliningrad has problems but that statement is absurd. If you offer jobs you and invest seriously your r protected by FSB. verdefull sounds like other Baltic nationalist -comment agaist logic and gesunder Menschenverstand)

  • they kill Lithuanian investors there ..losers
