How to Calculate find the Electric Field of a point in space induced by a Rod, and or ring. A thin plastic rod of length x is rubbed all over with wool, and acquires a charge of q, distributed uniformly over its surface. Calculate the magnitude of the electric field due to the rod at a location from the midpoint of the rod. Do the calculation two ways, first using the exact formula for a rod of any length, and second using the approximate formula for a long rod. Two rings of radius x are d apart and concentric with a common horizontal x-axis. The ring on the left carries a uniformly distributed charge of +Q, and the ring on the right carries a uniformly distributed charge of -Q.
you don't have to memorize these long equations my friends

you can derive it using super position theory where you take a very small length of the line dl and treat it as a point charge dq where dq = (Q/L)dl , find the electric feild due to this point charge using Coloumb's law and then integrate the answer over the total length of the rod
for the ring it's similar but change your differential length and the integration limits

Can you show how you derived those equations?
