the snow we get these days is nothin compared to the early eighties yet we managed then but we cant now! if the economy suffers 600m from one day of workers not goin to work thru lackof road grit then im sure the gov could have sorted it if they wanted especially since every year they spout crap about lack of grit anyone would think they want the economy to fail hmmm.... spending 500billion on corrupt banks that orchestrated the recession is more important it seems!!!!!

increased population, overcrowded roads, privatisation of railways, individualist 'thats not my job' attitudes to jobs, lack of community, cuts to public services, privatisation, jobsworth council officials that accuse people of "stealing" publicly owned grit, cars fitted with cheap ditchfinder tyres. also the health and safety and compensation culture.

@angus506 Understand one thing it's not the people that can't handle the conditions, its the government and local governments that dont provide the proper vehicles and staff for clearing the roads and motorways, and i know for a fact that you lot winge bitterly over the snow hampering you in from newscrews that interview you. Yes we get reports in from Canada/New York\ Boston as well. But at least you have the ready and proper governmental contingincies in place for your weather, we dont.

It's not the weather that bothers me, but the angry people who get stranded at airports and knew before they left the house what the situation was. Their idiots and when i see them complaining bitterly to the newscrew and airport staff, i think pathetic, you get everything you deserve.

That's the trouble, between media and the politicians they've done a tremendous job in cleansing out the good people and neighbourly spirit and helping the real people that do need our help in these conditions.
