Choirmaster Gareth Malone has started two successful choirs, for adults and children, in the housing estate of South Oxhey, but he believes they won't become 'real' choirs until they can perform technically challenging classical music, and sing in Latin. So he arranges for both his choirs to sing at concert performances alongside highly accomplished musicians in front of demanding audiences.

  • This programme is much better than standard reality dross we are served up. I wish I'd had someone like Gareth as my music teacher at school. `Pluke` spent all OUR time telling us about his exploits during the war.

  • This isn't fast they just cut it down to fit in the programme... the original is 7 minutes long and so was South Oxheys performance........ They did a good job of this with so little time they had!

  • Goose bumps all over his body ... buien gareth work as usual ....

  • Today I remembered YOUR performance of this most beautiful piece.. and here in the US we are mourning.. and I want you to know that while we still feel so raw.. your passion and strength in this performance heals.. through those tears. Thank you.. and God bless you and Gareth for the joy through the sadness.

  • im 11 and me and my choir sang this same song in front of judges and got a perfect score of 36 :/ dont u think thats kinda sad?

  • I had the pleasure of watching most of Gareth's Choir progammes and this piece of music is one of my favourites and to have got these lovely people to have sung this so well in such a short time is fantastic.

Well done to the choir for this and for Gareth for having faith in them to produce this amazing sound

  • @PippinRally thank you!

  • @tierix It's all Barber's Agnus Dei (the tune itself is Adagio for Strings, arranged for eight-piece choir)

  • this was the moment he fell in 'love' with his choir. No doubt about it..wonderfully done.. There are not enough words for this series, For Gareth..one of those rare people in this world. A blessing.

  • This is great!

  • Well done you! Sounds like a professional choir... each and everyone singing should be proud. I've listened to this time after time, still finding it more beautiful than the last... Brilliantly done.
