The Birmingham City Council Employment Access Team agreed with Carillion how the Library of Birmingham construction project could support unemployed people in Birmingham into employment and training opportunities linked to the construction of the new Library of Birmingham. To embed the process, a Training and Employment Agreement was established with Carillion.
250 employment opportunities were agreed, of which 25 are Apprenticeship opportunities, linked to the Library of Birmingham build over the lifetime of the construction. The agreement sets out how this target will be met in partnership with the Employment Access Team (EAT).
This event celebrates the training and employment opportunities achieved on the construction of the new Library of Birmingham so far, including:-
- 100th person into employment on the site, and
- EMCOR's 6 new apprentices.
